You shouldn’t have to choose between quality dental care and feeling anxious the entire time. That’s why every appointment here starts with understanding where you’re at—not just with your teeth, but with how you feel about being in the chair.
If you’ve been putting off a dental check up because of past experiences, cost concerns, or just not knowing who to trust, that stops here. We offer sedation options that range from mild relaxation to deeper sedation, so you can get through cleanings, fillings, crowns, or even cosmetic dentistry without white-knuckling the armrest.
And if something urgent comes up—a cracked tooth, sudden pain, an accident—you’re not left waiting until Monday. Dr. Kupetz has come in on Sundays and holidays to help patients in real pain. That’s not marketing talk. That’s how we run.
Dr. Scott Kupetz graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson College of Dental Medicine and has been practicing in the Hudson Valley for over 30 years. He’s not new to Zena, NY, and he’s not new to the concerns people in Ulster County bring to our dental clinic.
This isn’t a corporate office where you see someone different every time. You work with the same dentist who knows your history, your goals, and what makes you nervous. That consistency matters when you’re trying to rebuild trust in dental care.
Whether you need routine teeth cleaning, cosmetic dentistry like veneers or Invisalign, or more involved work like dental implants, you’re getting someone who’s done it thousands of times—and who still treats every case like it matters.
Your first visit starts with a conversation. You’ll talk through what’s bothering you, what you’ve been avoiding, and what you’re hoping to fix or improve. Dr. Kupetz will do a full exam, take any necessary images, and walk you through what he’s seeing—in plain language.
From there, you’ll get a personalized treatment plan. If you need a filling, a crown, or teeth whitening, you’ll know what’s involved, how long it takes, and what it costs before anything starts. If your insurance covers part of it, we handle the claim process so you’re not stuck playing phone tag with your provider.
If you’re anxious, sedation dentistry is available. You can choose oral sedation, nitrous oxide, or IV sedation depending on the procedure and your comfort level. For bigger cases, a board-certified anesthesiologist can be brought in.
And if you want to combine treatments—say, a cleaning and whitening in one visit, or multiple cosmetic procedures so you’re not coming back five times—that’s an option. The goal is to respect your time and get you the results you’re after without dragging it out.

You’ll find general dentistry here—cleanings, exams, fillings, root canals, extractions. You’ll also find cosmetic dentistry like porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, Invisalign, and professional teeth whitening. If you’re dealing with missing teeth, dental implants are available, and they’re done right here, not referred out to another office.
Dr. Kupetz also offers facial aesthetics, including Botox and Juvederm, if you’re interested in a more comprehensive approach to how you look and feel. It’s not something every dental office does, but for patients who want it, it’s there.
For families in Zena, NY and the surrounding Hudson Valley area, this means you can bring your kids in for their first dental check up and come back yourself for a crown or cosmetic work. One location. One dentist. One team that knows you.
Ulster County has a median age of 49, and a large portion of the population is between 45 and 65—meaning a lot of people are dealing with aging teeth, previous dental work that’s failing, or cosmetic concerns that finally feel worth addressing. We’ve spent decades working with that exact demographic, so we know what you’re dealing with and how to fix it in a way that lasts.
Your first appointment is about getting a clear picture of your oral health and figuring out what you actually need. Dr. Kupetz will sit down with you and talk through any concerns you have—pain, sensitivity, cosmetic issues, or just general anxiety about being there.
After that, he’ll do a full exam and take X-rays if needed. You’ll get a walkthrough of what he’s seeing, what’s urgent, and what can wait. If treatment is needed, you’ll leave with a written plan that includes costs, timing, and options.
There’s no pressure to commit to anything on the spot. You’ll have time to think, ask questions, and verify insurance coverage before moving forward. The goal is to make sure you understand what’s happening and feel good about the next steps.
Yes. Dr. Kupetz is certified in sedation dentistry and we offer multiple options depending on your level of anxiety and the type of procedure you’re having.
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is the mildest option—it helps you relax but you’re still fully awake and aware. Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment so you’re calm and drowsy during treatment. IV sedation is the deepest option and is used for longer or more complex procedures. A board-certified anesthesiologist can be brought in for cases that need that level of care.
A lot of people avoid the dentist for years because of fear. If that’s you, sedation can be the difference between getting the care you need and continuing to put it off. It’s safe, it’s controlled, and it’s designed to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
Dental implants typically range from $3,000 to $5,000 per tooth, depending on the complexity of the case and whether additional procedures like bone grafting are needed. That might sound like a lot, but implants are a permanent solution—they don’t need to be replaced every few years like dentures or bridges.
Our office works with most major dental insurance plans. Some plans cover a portion of implant costs, especially if the tooth loss is due to injury or medical necessity. Our team will verify your benefits and handle the claim process so you know what you’re paying out of pocket before anything starts.
If cost is a concern, payment plans are available. The goal is to make sure you can afford the care you need without waiting until the problem gets worse and more expensive to fix.
Yes. Dr. Kupetz handles both. That means you can come in for a routine cleaning and also talk about teeth whitening, veneers, or Invisalign if you’re interested in improving how your smile looks.
A lot of dental offices either focus on general care or cosmetic work, but not both. Here, you don’t have to go somewhere else if you decide you want to fix a chipped tooth, close a gap, or brighten your smile. It’s all done in the same place by the same dentist who already knows your mouth.
Cosmetic dentistry isn’t just about vanity. It’s about feeling confident when you smile, speak, or meet new people. If that matters to you, it’s worth having a conversation about what’s possible and what makes sense for your goals and budget.
Call our office. Dr. Kupetz has a track record of responding to emergencies quickly—even on weekends and holidays. If you’re in severe pain, dealing with a broken tooth, or facing any situation that can’t wait until Monday, he’ll do everything possible to get you in and taken care of.
Dental emergencies are stressful enough without having to sit in an ER waiting room or try to find an emergency dentist who doesn’t know your history. Having a dentist who actually picks up the phone and comes in when it matters makes a real difference.
That level of availability isn’t common, but it’s how Dr. Kupetz has run his practice for 30+ years. If something happens, you’re not on your own.
Professional teeth whitening is safe when done correctly. We use treatments that are much more effective than over-the-counter strips or trays, and they’re customized to your teeth so you get even results without sensitivity issues.
Results typically last one to three years, depending on your habits. If you drink a lot of coffee, tea, or red wine, or if you smoke, the whitening will fade faster. Touch-up treatments are available and much quicker than the initial process.
Some people worry that whitening will damage their enamel. It won’t—as long as it’s done by a dentist who knows what they’re doing. The key is using the right concentration of whitening agent and applying it correctly. That’s not something you can guarantee with a kit from the drugstore, but it’s exactly what you get here.
