You stop dreading appointments. That’s the first thing people notice.
When you’re not being rushed through a 10-minute cleaning or handed a treatment plan that feels like a sales pitch, dental care starts to feel different. You ask questions. You get real answers. You leave knowing exactly what’s happening with your teeth and why it matters.
Family dentistry should work for your whole household—not just the person with perfect teeth. Whether you’re bringing your kids in for their first dental check up or you’re finally addressing that crown you’ve been putting off, you want a dental office that can handle it all without shuffling you to three different specialists. That’s what comprehensive care actually means.
And if something goes wrong on a Saturday? You shouldn’t have to wait until Monday in pain. Emergency care should be available when you need it—not when it’s convenient for the schedule.
Dr. Scott Kupetz has been practicing dentistry since 1988. That’s over 30 years of treating families right here in the Hudson Valley, including patients in New Hamburg, Wappinger Falls, Beacon, and surrounding communities.
This isn’t a corporate dental clinic. It’s a practice built on relationships—parents who bring their kids, who eventually bring their own kids. That doesn’t happen by accident.
New Hamburg sits in a region where dental care access can be inconsistent. Many counties in New York are designated as Health Professional Shortage Areas for dental services, which means finding a dentist who’s available, experienced, and actually takes the time to do things right isn’t as easy as it should be. We’ve built our practice around filling that gap—offering everything from routine cleanings to cosmetic dentistry and dental implants without the runaround.
First, you call or schedule online. If it’s an emergency, you’ll be seen the same day—even on weekends. If it’s routine, you pick a time that works for you, not just what’s left over.
When you arrive, there’s no 45-minute wait in the lobby. You’re taken back, and someone actually talks to you about what’s going on. If you’re anxious, that’s addressed upfront—not after you’re already in the chair. Sedation options are available if you need them, from nitrous oxide to oral or IV sedation.
During your appointment, Dr. Kupetz walks you through what he’s seeing. If treatment is needed, you get a clear explanation of what it is, why it matters, and what it costs. No surprise bills. No pressure. Just transparency.
After your visit, you leave with a plan. If you need follow-up care, it’s scheduled before you go. If you have questions later, you can reach the office—not a call center.

General dentistry covers your routine care—cleanings, exams, fillings, crowns, and root canals. These are the appointments that keep small problems from becoming expensive ones.
Cosmetic dentistry includes teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and smile makeovers. If you’ve been hiding your smile in photos or avoiding certain foods because of how your teeth look, these treatments can change that. Dr. Kupetz also offers Botox and Juvederm for patients looking to address facial aesthetics alongside their dental work.
Dental implants replace missing teeth with a permanent solution that looks and functions like the real thing. Unlike dentures, implants don’t slip, and unlike bridges, they don’t require grinding down healthy teeth. For New Hamburg residents dealing with tooth loss—whether from injury, decay, or age—implants offer a long-term fix.
Sedation dentistry is available for patients who experience anxiety or need extensive work done in one visit. You shouldn’t have to white-knuckle your way through a procedure. Sedation makes it possible to get the care you need without the fear.
Emergency dental care is available 24/7. Tooth pain, broken crowns, knocked-out teeth—these don’t wait for business hours, and neither do we.
Cost depends on what’s included and whether you have insurance. A standard cleaning and exam typically runs between $100 and $300 without insurance, but that can vary based on what’s needed.
If you have dental insurance, most plans cover preventive visits at 100%, meaning your cleaning and exam cost nothing out of pocket. If you don’t have insurance, our office provides upfront pricing and works with you on payment options.
The bigger issue isn’t the cost of the cleaning—it’s the cost of skipping it. A routine visit catches problems early, when they’re cheap to fix. Waiting until something hurts usually means you’re looking at a root canal or crown instead of a simple filling. That’s the difference between $150 and $1,500.
Yes. If you’re in pain or dealing with a dental emergency, you’ll be seen the same day—even on weekends and holidays.
Most dental offices make you wait days or even weeks for an opening. That’s not realistic when you’re dealing with a cracked tooth, an abscess, or severe pain. We’ve built our practice around availability, which means Dr. Kupetz will come in after hours if that’s what it takes.
Emergency care isn’t just about stopping the pain. It’s about preventing further damage. A knocked-out tooth, for example, has the best chance of being saved if it’s treated within an hour. Waiting until Monday could mean the difference between saving the tooth and needing an implant.
We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, and IV sedation, depending on your level of anxiety and the complexity of the procedure.
Nitrous oxide is the mildest option. You stay awake and aware, but you feel relaxed. It wears off quickly, so you can drive yourself home. Oral sedation involves taking a pill before your appointment. You’ll be drowsy and may not remember much of the procedure, but you’ll need someone to drive you.
IV sedation is the deepest level of sedation available in a dental office. You’re not fully unconscious, but you’re in a twilight state and won’t remember the procedure. This is typically used for extensive work or patients with severe anxiety. An anesthesiologist is available for complex cases.
Dental anxiety is common, and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. The goal is to make sure fear doesn’t keep you from getting the care you need.
Dental implants can last 25 years or more—often a lifetime—with proper care. That’s significantly longer than bridges (10-15 years) or dentures (5-10 years).
The reason implants last longer is because they replace the entire tooth structure, including the root. A titanium post is surgically placed into your jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over time. This creates a stable foundation that doesn’t shift or degrade the way dentures do.
Bridges and dentures sit on top of your gums or rely on adjacent teeth for support, which means they wear out faster and can cause additional problems over time. Dentures can slip when you eat or talk. Bridges require grinding down healthy teeth. Implants avoid both issues.
The upfront cost of implants is higher, but when you factor in replacements, adjustments, and the hassle of maintaining other options, implants often end up being the more affordable choice long-term.
A cosmetic consultation starts with a conversation about what you want to change and why. Dr. Kupetz will ask about your goals—whether that’s whiter teeth, fixing chips or gaps, or a complete smile makeover.
From there, he’ll examine your teeth and gums to determine what’s realistic and what treatments will get you the results you’re looking for. This might include teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, or a combination of treatments. You’ll also discuss timeline, cost, and what the process looks like step by step.
Cosmetic dentistry isn’t one-size-fits-all. What works for someone else might not be the right approach for you, and a good consultation should reflect that. You’ll leave with a clear plan, transparent pricing, and realistic expectations—not a hard sell.
If cost is a concern, payment plans are available. The goal is to make sure you can afford the smile you want without financial stress.
Yes. We treat patients of all ages, from young children to seniors, which means your entire family can be seen at the same practice.
Family dentistry makes scheduling easier. Instead of coordinating appointments at multiple offices, you can book everyone on the same day or back-to-back. It also means your kids grow up seeing the same dentist, which builds trust and makes visits less stressful as they get older.
Different age groups have different dental needs. Kids need preventive care and education on proper brushing and flossing. Teens might need orthodontic evaluations or cosmetic treatments. Adults deal with everything from routine maintenance to restorative work. Seniors often need more complex care, like implants or dentures.
A true family dental practice handles all of that without referring you out for every little thing. That’s what comprehensive care looks like, and it’s a lot less hassle than juggling multiple providers.
